Happy Jack (Paul Phillips), is a Swansea Jack, and proud of it. He worked as a primary school teacher locally for 34 years, taking early retirement in 2006, having been Deputy Head Teacher at Llangyfelach Primary School for 20 years.
He joined Radio Tircoed in July 2008, having been a mobile disco for a number of years previously. Happy Jack was fortunate to be on the air as the station was officially opened by the then Member of Parliament, the Rt. Hon. Martin Caton, M.P. And the photo appeared in the South Wales Evening Post.
Happy Jack has presented a three hour Friday afternoon show of 60s, 70s and 80s music from the start, and originally it was a four hour show! He has a VAST music collection and often plays the unusual songs that you don`t hear on every other radio show.
He also presents In The Spotlight on Thursday nights at 10.00 pm, looking at the life, career and music from a big named act of the 60s, 70s or 80s.
Having current a C.R,B certificate, for the past five years, Happy Jack has also presented School Days. He visits local primary and secondary schools and Scout Groups, recording the boys and girls and these up to ten minute slots are broadcast on Friday and Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.
