Chris first began broadcasting a number (quite a large number) of years ago as a fresh-faced teenager on Radio City in Singleton Hospital. Since then he’s been involved in a number of radio projects, working at Radio Cherwell in Oxford, produced programmes for Swansea Sound and been involved in various group bids for commercial licence applications.
Chris spent 8 years as the Programme Controller and Station Director of Radio City and was also a broadcaster and Senior Programme Producer at Radio Cherwell. He was instrumental in getting Radio City its 1386 kHz AM broadcasting licence where he first worked with Paul Gemine, Radio Tircoed's Station Engineer.
Chris first joined Radio Tircoed on the initial RSL broadcast, where the studio was actually a table in a corner of the Village Hall surrounded by partitions! Due to the drive, dedication and enthusiasm of station founder Bob Walker, things progressed from there to a permanent licence in December 2008.
Love of music has always been the central to Chris’s involvement in radio and he presents 2 hours of Classic Rock on Wednesday Night – “Jurassic Rock” is the longest-running programme on Radio Tircoed, having been in the rota since the station started.
As one of the broadcasters who is also a resident of Tircoed Village, Chris takes an active interest in Village life, the surrounding area and the work of the Trustee
